OUR STORY

Adventure Bavaria started in the summer of 2017 when Backroads, a US based Active Travel Company, asked Anna to share with their guests her local knowledge of the area in the form of a cultural presentation including dirndls, lederhosen and beer!  From this Anna started her 'Cultural Stammtisch' where she shares anecdotes about Bavaria. Guests can see first hand the traditional Bavarian clothing and get a chance to ask honest questions with honest Bavarian answers.

During Anna's cultural presentations she often described the bucolic scenery of Bavaria, her experiences hiking and swimming in the alpine region, or enjoying Brotzeit at a traditional mountain hut.  Of course these are experiences from her childhood but they are also deeply rooted in Bavarian tradition.  The idea began to grow, why not give visitors the chance to see the true, local Bavaria, the one that Anna grew up in and the one Anna often describes to her guests during her cultural Stammtisch.

In January 2019 Anna and Tyler found their dream Bavarian farm house and with that the dream continued. The 450-year old farm house is located in Oberaudorf right on the border between Bavaria & Tirol and offers front row seats to the Bavarian and Tirolean alps. The house is a great way to look back in time but still enjoy modern amenities. Since February 2019 it is ready for guests to stay, sleeping up to 14 guests and offering cozy vibes. Anna and Tyler live in the newly renovated barn attached to the house and are there to provide tips or share a local beer with guests if they so choose.

In the summer of 2019 Anna decided to share Bavaria with guests in the form of cooking, more specifically Bavarian Cooking Classes in her kitchen. In 2020, we were able to add a Pretzel Baking class with our good friends from Bakerei Wolter.

In January of 2020 Anna gave birth to their daughter, Loni, the Bavar-ican. As you know, shortly after that, the world stopped spinning and hunkered down for a pandemic. During this time, we did renovations on the Farmhouse, enjoyed family time and also lucked into making an offer on a guest house down the road. At the end of 2020 we signed the contract and as the world in Bavaria continued to stay locked down we ended up completely renovating our newest addition from foundations up. As of September 2021 we have opened our BurgLoft & BurgVilla.

In September of 2022, Anna gave birth to our second daughter, Lilla, and also found the strength to let Tyler continue renovating. In December of 2022 we finished renovations on our converted ‘Tin Knocker Shack’ the ‘Werkstatt’, a seminar and retreat room for up to 20 with options of full catering and more.

Beyond that, we look forward to getting back into the kitchen and on the mountain with lots of happy guests as the world starts to spin again, and see where this spinning takes us!

Prost & Guade Vibes to All!
