Bavarian Cultural Cooking Class

Schnitzel, ‘Schmarrn, and Guade Vibes

Food is a means of connecting, storytelling, and memory making. Join us in the Adventure Bavaria Werkstatt, our private kitchen in Oberaudorf, for all of that as we teach you the secrets of making a proper schnitzel, Bavarian style potato salad among other sides, and Kaiserschmarrn, a popular alpine style pancake dessert. The recipes we will be making are passed down from Anna’s Oma Rosi and have been tried and tested over generations.

After starting with a coffee and some appetizers, it will be time to step into the kitchen where the real fun begins. First we prepare our salads- a Bavarian style potato salad and a radish salad. Then we put the hammer directly into your hands to pound our schnitzel to perfect thinness before it gets breaded and fried to a delicious golden-brown. Sip some of our favorite regional beers or wine while cooking, and learn about some of the traditions and culture of the region. We will sit down for a family-style lunch to enjoy what we have prepared together. Leave room for dessert as we have Kaiserschmarrn on the menu. This fluffy alpine pancake is first whipped, flipped, then ripped apart in the pan. Finally it gets tossed with some butter and sugar to caramelize. It is sweet, but not too sweet, and perfect paired with a sip of locally produced schnapps.

At the end of our meal we say “Servus” and “auf Wiedersehen'“, but not before you get your own Adventure Bavaria recipe book to take home to recreate the magic of Bavaria in your own kitchen. Schnitzel Sunday is a tradition in our household… will it be one in yours?
