Bavarian 101
Stories and traditions of Bavaria told over 5 beers
Did you know that true Lederhosen are made of deer leather? Or that a Dirndl can tell you a lot more about the woman wearing it than you would expect? That Weisswurst Frühstück should not be eaten after noon, and Radler beer is actually a Bavarian word for “cyclist” which is where the drink got its name? There are many nuances, quirks, and social codes in Bavaria that can be hard to understand at first, but undoubtably add to its charming culture.
In our Bavarian 101 presentation we will cover all things Bavaria (or as much as we can) and provide context to the culture so you can be prepared to blend in with the locals. Over sips of 5 different beverages (1 non-alcoholic drink and 4 beers) brewed in the region, we share how brewing has helped to shape the culture and traditions of the region, and vice versa. Whether you’re preparing for the Oktoberfest or just want to know a bit more about what makes Bavaria so special, we will make sure you leave feeling confident to navigate Germany’s largest state like you have been here all along.
