The Schnitzel, An Intro

Servus,

Here we are, November 16, 2020 smack dab in the middle of LockDown 2. What better time to start an Adventure Bavaria Blog than now. So here it is: ‘The Schnitzel’ We sure hope to get a blog post out about twice a month as we continue to work hard and grow in this Bavarian paradise. And we hope to share through the blog what we are doing around the house as far as improvements and projects go, lessons and experiences from running a small business together and as much Bavarian Guade Vibes as possible. To start off how about who we are and what we do :).

Who we are?

Tyler, Anna & Loni

Anna (from Bavaria) and Tyler (from California) bought an old bavarian farmhouse in January 2019 (the house was built in 1570). A month later with a few renovations the ‘Adventure Bavaria Guesthouse’ was open and hosting guests. We added Baby Loni (Apollonia) to the fray in January of 2020 and she helps with most of the heavy lifting. We live in the renovated barn next to the guesthouse and enjoy spending time in the mountains, cooking at home (or with guests), and improving the house and business so as to curate an amazing guest experience in any way possible.

What we do? HOMEGROWN - ACTIVE - CULTURAL

We like to look at Adventure Bavaria as a 3 part business and each part works separately from the other but can be combined upon request.

Guade Vibes in the Mountains

HOMEGROWN: Our homegrown business is our Guesthouse(s) We can sleep 12 - 14 guests at the Adventure Bavaria Guesthouse…and might have some exciting news here in a week or two. The house is only rented out entirely (even if you are 8 or 6 or 12 guests) You have a fully functional kitchen, stube to relax in, wood fired sauna, bbq and plenty of room to enjoy guade vibes. You have complete privacy but if you need a cup of sugar or a beer recommendation then just come over to the barn on the other side of the house and we are happy to share. Since January 2019 we have tried to make as many improvements as possible and the silver lining in the corona lockdown was allowing time for some serious renovations. A few ideas for 2020-2021 additions are: more parking, bocceball court, whirlpool, outdoor kitchen/dinning area, woodfired cooking oven … but for now the Miniramp/halfpipe we built during lockdown 1 will have to suffice until spring;).

ACTIVE: One of the best ways to experience Bavaria is through its nature. Book a small private day trip or excursion with us whether that be guided day hikes, in-resort ski guiding or rodelling down the local mountain. We try to combine as much cultural experience as possible on our active adventures. Also you don´t have to be staying at the guest house to enjoy and book an activity. In fact, the activities are largely organized to take guests using Munich, Salzburg or Innsbruck as their Hub and to get them out into the Bavarian countryside and mountains for a day and then back to town in time for one last helles at the Hofbrauhaus or augustiner keller.

CULTURAL: One of our favorite ways to experience and learn about a culture is through it’s food. And we think one of the most authentic ways is getting in a locals kitchen and experience what they cook and eat at home. That is the basis for our Bavarian Cooking Classes (schnitzel, Knoedel, Desserts, you name it) Our cooking classes take 4 -5 hours and are much more than just swinging a Schnitzel hammer. We share a few of our favorite Bavarian beers or non alcoholic drinks, everyone gets hands on with the cooking and we also like to use it as a springboard into discovering other aspects of Bavarian culture including the local ‘tracht’ (lederhosen/dirndl), dialect and other traditions. We promise you will head back full in the mind & belly.

We sure hope to see you soon in the Bavarian Alps for a cozy stay or a guided adventure or some time in the kitchen together. Stay Healthy, Stay Happy and keep those #guadevibes alive!

Prost from Anna, Tyler & Loni at Adventure Bavaria!
